Rockefeller (2013)

From the exhibition “Revisiting Rockefeller” at the Rockefeller Museum, Jerusalem

The works 12:00 and 13:00 were specially produced for the show Revisiting Rockefeller and for the museum's unique space. Both prints were placed in two niches – decorative architectural elements attributed to the original construction style in the historical building. The work process began with shooting pictures of the two niches in different natural light conditions - at twelve and one in the afternoon. The photographs were meticulously processed with Photoshop, in a manner that created different arrangement in the order of bricks - new masonry work in effect, and later printed according to the correlation of the lighting in which they were shot, and inserted into the stone niches, while simulating a new formation in the design of the stonework that is characteristic of the building. The history of the Rockefeller building, its relation to archeology and the fact that it has been a center for archeology under British, Jordanian and Israeli regime inspired the action and the reflection about vague, future architecture - associated with an illusionary and even psychedelic world. However, the work functions as a clock of sorts – - a unique work that enjoys ideal viewing conditions for only one hour each day.
